I think Mbeki is smart...and acted out of the love of his country. Let hope politics does not interfere into the good economy of our mighty power house...what is happening to South Africa anyway......the economy is good but black people are going backward day by day.....the bafana bafana is out of picture...mama mia...the white dominated rugby story is a success.....this is something to look at by the new leadershipPosted 21st September 2008 at 11:14 PM by majormaurio

It is unfortunate that you are looking at the South African problems in terms of black and white. Your racial lenses is exactly what is causing tension between people who are ordinarily supposed to work together for the good of the country.
You would appreciate that in government, sports and social sectors, we have both black and white people. How do you single out that it is a black or a white who is responsible for the success or failure of a particular programme. Would you say the rugby team is successful because of the players and not because of the coach?Posted 22nd September 2008 at 02:13 PM by zakesman

You say my comments are racial, no ways, racial devide exist naturally. My concern is the poor performance of bafana bafana as compared to the springboks. The rugby teams of namibia and SA are far much better compared to soccer teams becuz of various reasons. some could be racial. Howcan investors hold Trevor Emanuel so high than ANC? A black person today is being confused by various issues. First it politics and second is religion and so on. We understand these things in a monopolistic way. These are my opinions from observations. they are right by me and not neccessary by you. And thanx for your commentsPosted 22nd September 2008 at 08:38 PM by majormaurio

Raymond Hack is the CEO of the South African Football Association which owns Bafana Bafana and he is white. De Villiers is the coach of the Springboks and he is black. You can read between the lines what I am trying to infer here.
And also, it is difficult to draw comparisons between football and rugby from an african and world perspective.
There are more countries playing football in Africa than there are countries playing rugby. There is more interest in soccer on the continent, and therefore most of the countries give their all when it comes to football. Look at the qualification system of rugby for the world cup and compare it to how football teams qualify for the world cup or even the nations cup.
The processes are distinct but you will agree with me that it is more difficuly to qualify in football than it is to qualify in rugby.
Having said that, my point is that we should not look at rugby and football from a black or white perspective. If a team is performing poorly then it is doing just that. If rugby is doing well then it should be because the players are good and not because they are white. We should address the weaknesses in the teams and not ascribe their weaknesses to a particular colour. In conclusion, I want to say I recognise the undertone and your frustration and I pray that one day, you will be able to distinguish problems from skin colours.Posted 23rd September 2008 at 10:55 AM by zakesman

Yes I agree with you on looking at issues out of skin colors. Perhaps I should say the point is the need to recognise specific black problems and adress them that way. Whites were advantaged up until recently though they still continue economic advantages over blacks. Of course there are blacks making good impacts in various areas, which is good. I am not frustrated but I recognise this fact. Eliminating racial devide is a course which we wish could be real. Resentments from whites for example that black can not do like whites are still habored by many whites. But whites do advocate more than blacks to eliminate racism. I do not support racism but would like to see a balanced field and that will mean uplifting blacks to the same level with whites..which could be difficult. and then as you said frustrations could be evident.Posted 23rd September 2008 at 08:29 PM by majormaurio
